"Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first. Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lamp stand from its place." Revelation2: 4-5

Upon receiving salvation, many people have tears in their eyes. They have such a vivid experience that they can behold the passion of Jesus on the cross as he died to pave the way to eternal life. Even the reticent suddenly want to spread the love of God and the joy they feel to everybody.

O the passion
O the wonder of the fiery love of Christ
Death defeated by His rising
Darkness conquered by His light
We will sing His praise forever worthy is the Lamb of Life

Often though, their fire slowly loses its sparkle, lost in every day cares, and the negative reception of a message others are not ready to hear. They lose your passion, their motivation, their hope. And all that is left of that first  fiery love for Christ are outward observances; like going to church every Sunday.

Like the early Church of Ephesus, Christ wants you to ignite this first love for him.  He says, “Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first…” Feed the flame!
