Wallowing in the mud

"Are you done wallering around in your pity party?"

It's so easy. All you have to do is give in. Let the memories of your past drag you down. It is time to jump into that pity party. To feel sorry for yourself. To blame others along with your past! Isn't that how you ended up in the situation that you're in? Okay so don't go back to those memories. Just look at your present situation. Bills with no money to pay them all and deeper in debt. Sickness and disease has trapped you and holds you prisoner. You now feel older and more useless than ever. Why not start your pity party now? Those are all lies of the Devil. That is what he tells Christians every day. He wants you to stay stuck in your pity party. It is a party of one and is meant to isolate you from your friends, your family, your hope, your future and from your God.

I kept falling for those lies. Every time I turned around I had my problems shoved in my face. Forced to stare at them by constantly being reminded of them daily and feeling sorry for myself. But that was all my fault because I didn't treat my view of my problems correctly. I saw them as they are in the natural and as others would see their problems. I neglected to give God praise and thank Him for his rescue of me. I forgot to praise God for his deliverance. I missed opportunities to give God the glory for His handling of my problems. I robbed God of His opportunities to shine bright through my problems. I would pray for His intervention, His rescue, for His deliverance and for His promises for me. But every time I started one of my pity parties all I accomplished was to rob God and fill my mind with doubt. What a fool!

Why is it that we Christians can eventually wrap our minds around how powerful our God is that we serve but treat Him as an uncaring and too busy of a God to rescue us? How do we show the world how great our God is if all they see and hear is us complaining and living in our pity parties? Yes we are always being watched by the unsaved as to how we live our lives, how we handle our problems, how we can have any joy and peace when the world is going to hell in a hand basket! One day when I was busy having one of my pity parties, I was praying to God about my woes, He asked me, "Are you done wallering around in your pity party?" Wallering is what pigs do in the mud and they don't mind staying right there. Needless to say that I suddenly understood what I was doing wasn't helping me at all! My pity parties was another way of me accepting all of my problems and cares as just part of life. Again that is just another lie of the Devil. How can I expect to have faith in my powerful God who wants me to prosper as my soul prospers if I waste my time and energy in my pity parties?

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. It doesn't say to do these only when things are good. It doesn't say to do these only when you feel like it but IN ALL THINGS and ALWAYS! Give God the glory, give God the thanks and give God the praise for ALL that He has brought your through and "put you over" as God provides the victory in your life. Do this every day as if God has already fully answered your prayers. Do it until God manifests your deliverance and healing then do it even more!

My name is Steve and I was born and raised in a good Christian home in Phoenix Arizona. In 2004 God spoke to me to let me know that He would start sharing things with me that I would share with others. Little did I know how powerful and meaningful those things would be! Thank you Lord!!
